Just over a thousand meters above sea level, surrounded by meadows and forests, here stands the Hirschen Wald. A stately inn in the friendly Appenzellerland.Natural, cheerful hospitality, a well-kept kitchen that the owners take care of themselves. All of this is part of the tradition in the Hirschen Wald. The two cozy guest rooms, the 250-year-old wall buffet, the old wood-fired oven, they know how to tell about it. Here, you can celebrate the festivities as they come.The hotel rooms in the Hirschen, tastefully furnished, are bright and comfortable. Each has a shower/toilet and TV. Each is rurally quiet. And from the windows, every guest sees their own little piece of Appenzell. In 2022 we renovated most of the rooms.Hiking trails literally pass by the front door of the Hirschen. They lead over hills, through forests, across fields. And more than that, they lead you imperceptibly out of the hustle and bustle, past a shady tree, past a remote farmstead, further and further into the silence. It is not far to Lake Constance, to the town of Appenzell, or up into the Alpstein. St. Gallen, with its museums, cinemas and theater, is also easy to reach.
